![]() (The name means Summer House in Breton) TI HAÑV, Pontrieux,
Northern Brittany,
|
![]() Ti Hanv is for a romantic break, for a couple - not for children or pets. Buy fresh food locally and eat at home, in doors or al fresco in the garden. The kitchen is very well equipped for preparing meals. Pontrieux has two boulangeries, a boucherie, an epicerie/grocer and a good size Intermarche supermarket. Fresh local seafood is a speciality of the region. On other days, eat out at restaurants in the village, including the Pontrev Hotel, La Sterne, two crêperies, a pizzeria and two places serving ‘Ouvrier’ meals at lunch time for about 10 euros. There are three pubs in the village - the Schooner on the River by the harbour, a bar near the church, and on the outskirts of the village, the Pub à Vapeur, open late with music in the season. Also two Internet cafes. |
Pontrieux—‘Petite Cite de Charactere’
Pontrieux, in the beautiful Côte d’Armor, is ideally situated to explore the Breton countryside with its villages, towns, castles, dolmens and harbours. It is within 25 minutes drive of large sandy beaches, Côte de Granit Rosé, and miles of stunning coast line.

This ‘Petite Cité de Charactère’, dating from the 15th century, is at the bridging point of the River Trieux. It is famous for its Lavoirs or wash houses (51 in total) and is renowned as a Ville Fleurie (4 stars).
Pontrieux has a market on Monday mornings and there are many organised events held during the summer season: every Friday night free entertainment, in July the Pardon Notre Dame des Fontaines and the Fest Noz (Breton dancing) and in August a ‘live’ painting competition, the Marché d’Antan, and the Fete des Lavoirs (15 August) - with its procession of washer women and sailors and free musical entertainment including fireworks on the river. The village is illuminated at night.
Local attractions include: Château de la Roche Jagu, cathedral town of Tréguier, Lannion with the best market in Brittany (Thursdays), and speciality boutiques and shops in Guingamp and St Brieuc. You can take the steam train from the seaport of Paimpol to Pontrieux, running alongside the river.
